Privacy Policy (GDPR) (EN)

With this privacy policy, made by Legalloyd, you inform visitors of your website or app and users of your services on how you process their personal data, in a way that’s compliant with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).

Almost every company collects personal data. Nearly everything you do with that data (like storing, sorting and copying) is called processing of data. You process personal data, for example, when you use a contact form on your website. You are responsible for the adequate processing of personal data. As the 'data controller' you are obliged to inform visitors on how you use their data. You explain this in a privacy policy. There are high fines on violations, also for smaller companies.

Start drafting your own privacy policy by clicking “Make Policy”. Or read more about the privacy policy below. Please also see our disclaimer note.

What is it?

A privacy policy is a document in which you explain to visitors (or customers in case of a webshop): which personal data you collect and what you do with it. Data is considered to be 'personal' if you can trace the data back to a person. This is quickly the case. Think for example of someone's name, but also one's bank account number or IP-address.

In this privacy policy you explain, for example:

  • what personal data you process;
  • For which purpose(s) you process the data; and
  • On what legal basis you process the data.

Why do I need it?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) has strict rules that oblige you to inform your users and customers extensively. With this privacy policy, you comply with the information obligations in the GDPR and it’s clear for users and customers what you do with their personal data.

Other designations

  • Privacy statement;
  • Privacy declaration.

Important tips

  • Make sure you are GDPR-compliant from the very beginning. This is wat is deemed as privacy by design. Being careful about the processing of personal data from the beginning can save you a lot of time and effort (and fines) in the future!
  • If you process personal data on the basis of consent, make sure to ask that consent in the correct way. A good way of asking consent is by an opt-in.
  • Many websites use a privacy policy because it gives the user a sense of reliability. But: in some cases users have to agree to the processing of their data. In those cases, it's not enough to place the privacy policy on your website, but you'll have ask for consent. This is the case, for example, when you share personal data with third parties.
  • Besides a privacy policy, many companies draft a cookie declaration. This is obliged when you use cookies that are not purely function or when these cookies can influence the privacy of the user in any way. In addition, users have to be notified of the use of cookies through a cookie banner. Make sure that these documents are present.
  • Take care of a well and complete general terms and conditions.
